The much-awaited annual sporting, recreational and cultural event, termed Chief SA National Defence Force Prestige Week taking place at the Pretoria Military Sports Ground in Thaba Tshwane over the period 16 to 19 October 2017 was officially opened by the Chief of the SANDF, Gen Solly Shoke.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Gen Shoke said that in the military sport is part and parcel of the Force preparation. He encouraged members to embrace active lifestyle as part of daily activities in order to improve their health and wellness status.

First staged in 2014, the Prestige Week has made its mark as one of the Chief SANDF’s premier sporting event. This year’s theme is: “Showcasing the SANDF unique character through military excellence”.

An opening ceremony which included a performance by combined military bands (National Ceremonial Guard, SA Navy and SA Military Health Service) and a capability demonstration by members of the Military Police set the mood for a fantastic week which will become a beehive of activities with line-up features of different sporting codes.
